Meals on Wheels Community Services

The Meals on Wheels Community Services project was founded in 1964 by Doctor Denis Baird. In light of the serious need amongst the ageing community in East London (South Africa), Dr Baird launched a fund-raising project aimed at financing the first ever Meals on Wheels delivery vehicle. He then gathered a few caring ladies, arranged to use a local church kitchen during weekdays, and the rest is history.
